Just Let Me Lay Here is a mixed-media piece created over two years during a time of profound personal transformation. After returning from China due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ending an engagement, and adjusting to life alone for the first time, I poured those emotions into this work.

The piece combines layers of acrylic and watercolor with repurposed book pages, fine line marker work, and delicate dried plants. These elements reflect both the chaos and quiet of that season—grief, growth, and the simple act of staying still when life feels overwhelming. It’s a visual diary of learning to rest, reflect, and rebuild.
